Banning English

Noted economist and Nobel laureate Amartya Sen has warned of disastrous consequences if the short sighted politicians try to ban English in their state. These politicians put forth the argument that English has created a cultural and economic divide among the people and so it must be banned. Amartya Sen is of the view that this move will further alienate the illiterate masses and the poor people farther away from the main stream. English is here to stay as a bonding language between different cultures and as the language of commerce. The nation has realized this and the politicians should change their views.
