French Citizens
Pondicherry was ruled by the French and got its freedom from the French. When the French people left they behaved pretty decently. They offered all the residents of Pondicherry citizenship in France and permitted them to settle in France. As Pondicherry was its colony it still offers its citizens in Pondicherry a very fat sum as monthly pension. Besides when elections for selecting the French President take place the old French citizens who are still living in Pondicherry are allowed to vote. The French respected their colony people and treated them as their own country men. The British rule in other places was directly opposite to this.
