The Dangers Of Bio Fuels
Ethanol is claimed to be a fuel of the future now. It is also claimed to be a wonderful alternative to petroleum products. Ethanol is derived from sugar cane and sweet maize. There is a process which is currently not permitted in India which can directly convert sugar cane to ethanol without first obtaining the sugar. Ethanol commands a good price and all the sugar cane may be transferred to this purpose. If this happens only if Rs.80 is paid per kilo of sugar the ethanol plants may revert to sugar manufacture. Already food prices have sky rocketed and allowing ethanol production is suicidal.
